Podiatrists, previously known as Chiropodists, are trained to prevent, diagnose, manage and treat abnormal conditions of the feet and lower limbs.
As well as the treatment of certain skin and nail conditions, podiatrists can also treat and advise on;
- Poor circulation;
- Ingrown toenails (nail surgery);
- Diabetic foot problems, including infection and ulceration;
- Mechanical foot and lower limb problems requiring treatment with foot orthoses (insoles);
- Foot problems related to arthritis.
Podiatrists help to keep people mobile and active by relieving pain. They also provide general and specialist foot care advice to patients and other healthcare professionals.
Our Podiatrists are based at various sites around Morecambe Bay. If you are unable to leave your home due to your health you may be able to be treated at home.
If you are having problems with your feet and would like a podiatry assessment, please discuss with your healthcare professional, such as your doctor or nurse, who is able to refer you.
