The Government wishes to see a dramatic and sustained improvement in the performance of providers of NHS in initiating and delivering clinical research. The aim is to increase the number of patients who have the opportunity to participate in research and to enhance the nation’s attractiveness as a host for research.

The University Hospitals of Morecambe Bay NHS Foundation Trust is committed to improving performance in the approval and conduct of research.  As part of our contractual arrangements with the Department of Health, the Trust is obliged to publish Performance on Initiating (PI) data for all interventional clinical trials and Performance on Delivery (PD) date for all commercial clinical trials that have been open in the Trust over in last 12 months.

Delivering Clinical Research - time and target

The performance in delivering research of commercial clinical trials to time and target measures the provider of NHS Services performance in recruiting the target number of patients in the time agreed with the commercial sponsor.

Performance in Delivering - Quarter2 - 2018-2019

Initiating Clinical Research - the 70 day benchmark

The performance in initiating (70-day) benchmark is a single measure taken from the date of receipt of Valid Research Application to the date of First Patient Recruitment for the provider of NHS Services.
