Patients who use NHS hearing aids are being advised that they can still access hearing aid batteries and repairs during the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic in North Lancashire and South Cumbria.

David Watts and his daughter Beatrix Kaley, of Lancaster, have been volunteering for the Trust to deliver urgent orthotics items to patients in the community who have mobility issues and cannot pick them up from the hospital due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

As part of Cumbria’s response to the COVID-19 pandemic, agencies from health, Local Authorities, care, emergency services, military, education and industry have come together to create a network of ‘Community Recovery Centres’.
The Community Recovery Centres have been designed as part of the county’s plans to provide additional capacity so patients can be discharged from hospital. Both NHS Trusts in the county have already significantly increased the bed capacity. -

The Surgical Emergency Ambulatory Care (SEAC) unit the Royal Lancaster Infirmary has moved to Westmorland General Hospital (WGH) to help University Hospitals of Morecambe Bay NHS Foundation Trust (UHMBT) to manage the COVID-19 pandemic.
