When am I going home?" campaign

  • Campaigns and awareness

At University Hospitals of Morecambe Bay we are proud to support the "When am I going home?" campaign. This initiative is designed to enhance the patient experience and improve hospital efficiency by fostering open communication and delivering clarity regarding patients' treatment plans and anticipated discharge dates.

We understand that navigating the healthcare journey can be overwhelming for both patients and their families. The "When am I going home?" campaign aims to answer four fundamental questions:

  • What is wrong with me?

  • What is going to happen next?

  • What can I do to help myself get better?

  • When am I likely to go home?

Why "When am I going home?" Matters:

  • Patient-Centred Care: We believe that informed patients are essential to delivering patient-centred care, where individuals have an active role in their healthcare decisions.

  • Enhanced Patient Empowerment: Clear and transparent communication ensures that patients and their families can make well-informed choices, leading to better health outcomes.

  • Efficient Hospital Discharges: By addressing concerns and planning ahead, our healthcare professionals can streamline the discharge process, reducing unnecessary delays.

The "When am I going home?" campaign is a year round campaign aiming to improve patient outcomes and reduce hospital stays. We invite patients, families, and healthcare professionals to embrace this patient-centred approach to care.

If you have a friend or relative in hospital, speak to the discharge co-ordinator when you’re next visiting and help us plan for a smooth transition back home.
