Amy Bland, WGH ChaplainThe Trust is celebrating the arrival of Amy Bland, our new Chaplain at WGH.

Amy is an Anglican Priest who brings a wealth of experience and enthusiasm to her new role. After growing up in Cambridge, she moved to Blackpool in 2018 and trained to become a vicar. She worked in a church in Chorley for three years, but it was during a placement at Royal Preston Hospital that she discovered her passion for hospital chaplaincy. Amy later volunteered with the chaplaincy team at Wigan Hospital, an experience that confirmed her calling to this important work.

In her free time, Amy enjoys walking, swimming, climbing, and spending time with friends. She’s already enjoying life in this beautiful part of the country and is looking forward to becoming part of the WGH community.

This is also the first time the chaplaincy service will have a dedicated mental health support role, as Amy's role is partially funded by Lancashire and South Cumbria NHS Foundation Trust. This means that one day a week will be dedicated to mental health chaplaincy.
