Two experienced GPs will lead the way in developing primary and community services across Lancashire and South Cumbria following their appointment to new roles within the Lancashire and South Cumbria Health and Care Partnership.
Drs Lindsey Dickinson and Peter Gregory have been appointed as the two associate medical directors for primary and community care. They will make sure the voice of primary and community care is heard within the integrated care system and, subject to new national legislation, will provide clinical input into the development of the NHS Integrated Care Board and the wider health and care partnership.
Andy Curran, medical director for Lancashire and South Cumbria Health and Care Partnership, said: “Because of the importance of primary and community care in developing a truly integrated health and care system, we are delighted to be able to appoint both as associate medical directors.
“Both have been clinicians for many years as well as demonstrating leadership in their respective CCGs and helping to shape local commissioning decisions over the past few years.
“I am delighted we will be able to utilise that experience and their leadership skills in the ongoing development of health and care in Lancashire and South Cumbria.”
Dr Dickinson is the chair and clinical leader of NHS Chorley and South Ribble CCG, as well as a GP and partner at The Chorley Surgery, while Dr Gregory, a partner at Parkgate Surgery in Ormskirk and director of the Owls Out of Hours GP service, is the chair of NHS West Lancashire CCG.
Their new roles will see them engaging with primary and community services to ensure they continue to develop at both a system and place level, while also advocating for services and articulating the issues they face across the region.
