Public parking charges at sites run by UHMBT are being brought in line with parking charges set by local authorities and other NHS Trusts as of Monday 19 August 2024.
There will be no changes to the current arrangements for Blue Badge holders and to those patients who are not required to pay for parking.
The Trust has assessed its costs and income and has reviewed charges applied across partner organisations across the Integrated Care System (ICS) in North Lancashire and South Cumbria, together with a review of local parking charges. While the cost of maintaining and operating UHMBT’s car parks has increased year on year, charges have not increased since 2019. However, following a review of car parking charges, and after very careful consideration, the Trust has decided to increase public car parking charges.
The new pricing structure in place from Monday 19 August 2024 is below:
- Up to 1 hour: £2
- Up to 2 hours: £3
- Up to 4 hours: £4.50
- Up to 8 hours: £9
- Up to 24 hours: £12
- Weekly: £12.50
Parking charges for UHMBT colleagues will not increase as part of the Trust’s commitment to supporting colleagues.
The Trust strongly believes that the car parks should be self-financing and be operated and maintained without subsidy from patient care budgets. Should there be any surplus, this will be reinvested in site operations and maintenance.
The aim is to manage the locations in a professional manner, improving site security and providing an equitable system that will benefit staff, patients and visitors in accessing the hospital sites.
The Trust will continue to participate in local authority green initiatives, and will promote car sharing, greater use of bicycles and local transport within the area.
