Chief Nursing Officer, Tabetha Darmon officially opened the new Community Diagnostics Centre (CDC) at Westmorland General Hospital this week.
The new CDC opened its doors to patients last Monday offering CT and MRI scans in a purppse-built permanent structure.
Jack Smith, Director for the Lancashire and South Cumbria Diagnostics Collaborative said: "It's fantastic to see this high quality community diagnostic facility in Kendal delivered on time and within budget. This CDC adds much needed additional capacity and resilience to our diagnostics collaborative across the region, helping to reduce patient waiting lists and providing state of the art images to inform clinical diagnosis and treatment decisions”.
"This fabulous achievement is testament to the continuing hard work and dedication of the high performing UHMB diagnostic services and management team."
Director of Health and Integration for the Integrated Care Board, Jane Scattergood said: "This is a fabulous addition to the service available to the people of Kendal and the South Lakes. It is high-quality accommodation and so will be much better for the users of the service."
