Morecambe Bay welcomes international visitors for recruitment scheme

Posted on: 13 June 2019

Morecambe Bay NHS staff have welcomed delegates from Health Education England (HEE) and the Pakistan Department of Health to discuss the opportunities available for international Nurses to train in north Lancashire and south Cumbria as part of the Global Learners Programme.

The Global Learners Programme is an educational opportunity which provides qualified nurses from outside of the UK the chance to develop and add to their existing skills by working in the NHS for up to three years.

As part of the programme, HEE (along with the host NHS Trust), supports professionals through their preparation for language and competency tests; entry onto the UK professional register; visa application, and through a comprehensive programme of pastoral care prior to and on arrival.

The objective of these ‘earn-learn-return’ schemes is to hopefully create a circular programme with sustainable pipelines of cohorts arriving and returning each year.
