Hundreds of people had the opportunity to discover inspiration for a healthier lifestyle at the Bay Health Festivals Sunday Fun Day at Kendal Leisure Centre.
Organised by University Hospitals of Morecambe Bay NHS Foundation Trust in partnership with leisure centre management company Better UK, the event aimed to help people to ‘rediscover the lost art of living’ - inspiring small lifestyle changes that can add up to big improvements in physical and mental wellbeing.
Kendal Leisure Centre’s Better Health and Communities Manager Danielle Vipond Houghton said: “We are thrilled to have partnered with The Bay Health Festivals and Kendal Integrated Care Community to bring Sunday Fun Day to Kendal Leisure Centre.
“This event offered over 450 people in our local community a chance to explore new activities, reconnect with old friends and make new ones, whilst having the opportunity to try different types of physical activity, speak with professionals about health and wellness and connect with a range of organisations and charities – there really was something for everyone to enjoy.
“Most importantly, families enjoyed a lively, fun-filled day and took home valuable health messages to live longer in better health.”
UHMBT Lead Chaplain Ian Dewar, the lead organiser of Bay Health Festivals, said: “Bay Health Festivals is all about sparking interest and giving people a chance to see the opportunities that exist to improve their mental and physical health.
“From sporting activities to free health checks, we aim to help people to make small changes that can help them avoid future health problems.
“I’d like to say a huge thank you to all of our exhibitors and the team at Kendal Leisure Centre who helped to make it such a varied, vibrant and inspirational event.”
