Joint NHS annual meeting held next month

15 August 2019

NHS Morecambe Bay Clinical Commissioning Group and University Hospitals of Morecambe Bay NHS Foundation Trust are holding a joint annual meeting at Morecambe Football Club on Tuesday 17 September from 10am.

The joint meeting is being held in response to feedback from many local people who are interested in attending both annual meetings; by holding a joint meeting, it makes it easier for people to attend and ask any questions they may have.

The event will include stands and stalls from different health and voluntary sector organisations, providing attendees with an opportunity to find out more about the services on offer across Morecambe Bay.

There will also be an opportunity to find out the latest information on the Better Care Together strategy which has been pursued by both organisations, in conjunction with local partners, since 2013.

At the meeting, members of the public will be able to join the Morecambe Bay Assembly – a new group for those who have an interest in health services and wish to be involved in how they develop.

Jerry Hawker, Chief Officer at NHS Morecambe Bay CCG said: “Holding a joint annual meeting is a great opportunity for members of the public to find out more about what’s been happening in their local NHS over the last 12 months. As well as providing updates on projects, we will be discussing the challenges we face and our plans going forward.”

Aaron Cummins, Chief Executive at UHMBT, said: “All members of the public are welcome to attend and there will be an opportunity to ask questions of the Board of either organisation. We’d also like to get as many people as possible involved in the Assembly – it’s an opportunity to have your say on the future development of healthcare in the area.”

The event will take place from 10am – 1pm during which time you will be able to watch a video about the work taking place in the local NHS, listen to a presentation from Wise Up, a locally based well-being community organisation that offers workshops using art forms for confidence building and visit the marketplace stalls.
