The Strategic Commissioning Committee of NHS Lancashire and South Cumbria, on behalf of all the NHS Clinical Commissioning Groups and NHS Provider Trusts, has approved to fund proposals for enhancing Acute Stroke Centres within the region.

The proposals require a capital investment of £5.7 million and an ongoing revenue investment of £13.8 million, which will enhance the facilities, equipment and staffing at all existing acute stroke centres in four hospital Trusts, as well as supporting investment in the North West Ambulance Service. The proposals are to be implemented over a 3-year period, with the final enhancements taking place in 2023/24.

You are invited to learn more about the enhancements to Acute Stroke Centres and take the opportunity to provide feedback on the implementation of these proposals, by participating in the public engagement process.

The public engagement webpage will provide you with the background to these developments and give you the opportunity to read the business case in full, or in summary or Easy Read format.  You will be able to provide your feedback on any issues or concerns you may have around the implementation of these proposals by completing the survey available on the webpage and getting involved in the engagement process.

There is also a Frequently Asked Questions document that may answer any queries you have about the enhancement to the region’s acute stroke centres.

Your comments will be fed back to the Lancashire and South Cumbria Integrated Stroke and Neurorehabilitation Delivery Network (ISNDN), which is responsible for developing and delivering enhanced stroke services, as part of the implementation process.

Your feedback should be submitted by Wednesday 27 October 2021.
