I would like to congratulate Helen Bingley, a Non-Executive Director at University Hospitals of Morecambe Bay, who was appointed as Deputy Lieutenant for Lancashire, today.
Helen, who was recently awarded an OBE for her voluntary service in the UK and abroad, will support the Lord-Lieutenant and assist him in carrying out his role as the Queen’s representative. Deputy Lieutenants also assist with assessments for The Queen’s Award for Voluntary Service, suggesting names for invitation to Royal Garden Parties and presiding at Citizenship Ceremonies.
Helen is CEO of the Caton-based Abaseen Foundation, which provides education, health, research and humanitarian relief to some of the poorest people in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa in north west Pakistan. The foundation was awarded the Queen’s Award for Voluntary Service – an MBE for voluntary groups – in 2017.
