New outdoor furniture has been installed for use by staff at University Hospitals of Morecambe Bay NHS Foundation Trust, thanks to Bay Hospitals Charity.
The charity has used a grant of nearly £7,000 from NHS Charities Together to install tables and benches at Royal Lancaster Infirmary, Furness General Hospital and Westmorland General Hospital for use by staff during breaks.
University Hospitals of Morecambe Bay NHS Foundation Trust Director of People and Organisational Development David Wilkinson said: “With spring now well and truly here, this donation of outdoor furniture from Bay Hospitals Charity and NHS Charities Together provides a lovely boost for our staff teams.
“It’s really important for the wellbeing of our amazing staff team that they are able to enjoy breaks in comfortable surroundings.
“The current government guidance highlights the importance of gathering in fresh air to reduce the spread of Covid-19, and so this improvement to our outdoor spaces is really important for us.
“Here’s hoping that the weather holds and our colleagues are able to enjoy the sunshine in these revamped spaces this summer.”
Bay Hospitals Charity funds the latest equipment for University Hospitals of Morecambe Bay NHS Foundation Trust to help make patients more comfortable and ensure they get the best possible care and treatment.
Charity Manager Judith Read said: “We’re extremely grateful to NHS Charities Together for this grant. Simple things like improvements to outdoor spaces can make a huge difference, and I hope this furniture is enjoyed by staff teams across all three of our hospital sites.”
