Kind-hearted Brownies visited the Children’s Ward at Furness General Hospital and handed out ‘comfort bags’ to young patients.
The comfort bags, which consisted of items such as tooth brushes, toothpaste, flannels, soap and shower gel, were put together by Lindal and Furness Brownies. Hand-crafted presents were also created and handed out by the caring Brownies.
Janice Lloyd, Snowy Owl from Lindal and Furness Brownies, said: “The girls really enjoyed making the comfort bags for the children who are in hospital.
“They wanted to make the children’s stay more pleasant and comfortable.
“Sometimes children can go into hospital and be frightened and nervous. The Brownies wanted young patients to enjoy the crafty items and hoped they might take their minds off an operation or treatment that they might be having.”
Josephine Holmes, Manager of the Children’s Ward, said: “We would like to say a huge thank you to the Brownies for their kind and caring gesture.
“It’s lovely that the Brownies came up with the comfort bags to show our young patients that people are thinking about them. The children on the ward love to receive gifts like this and it gives them something positive to think about.
“We are very grateful to the Brownies for doing something so thoughtful and meaningful for our young patients.”
